Connecting To Nature by Growing Our Own Food

World’s most celebrated dramatist and play writer, William Shakespeare, once wrote: “One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.” The soulful bond that we, as humans, have with nature has always been held supreme, with definite results showing that we often feel at our best when surrounded by the best of nature. In simpler words, it is a connection that has been built since our existence.

This kind of explains why people living in cities tend to find their respite in places that give them the illusion of being one with nature. Coming back to reality, the need to build a real connection with nature drove the idea of growing our own food at Meraaki Kitchen and Cafe White Sage.

How Nature and Kitchen Gardens are connected?

Growing our own food goes far beyond the apparent concepts of sustainability, reduced carbon footprint, and local farmer empowerment. There is a deep-rooted and untapped potential in there that needed to be realized. Growing our own food in our own yard and building our own culinary garden brought us in closer proximity and within a strong connection with nature.

The goal behind creating Meraaki Kitchen and Cafe White Sage was to celebrate the union of aesthetics with sustainability. Growing our own food is where both, aesthetic beauty and sustainable progression, converge to create a perfect culmination, an overall experience. Not only it brings fresh food on the plate, but it also makes the garden a part of the decor. Right from the point where the guests enter and throughout the time spent at the restaurant, the garden is present and apparent as the interior design of the space.

A Space for Your Soul

The best treat for anyone would be something that not only pleases their palate but also touches their soul in ways beyond just the taste. More than just a place to eat, a guest needs that connection with nature to regain the feeling of belongingness.

Yes, when the food comes from the garden right outside the window, there is nothing that can beat the fresh taste and aroma of what sits at your plate. This is the way our ancestors enjoyed their food, freshly plucked, and made. They believed in fresh food as wholesome nutrition and the right way of living.

And long before tall buildings, fast roads, and long bridges erupted out, the surroundings of a healthy person comprised of the greens that we so miss in our daily lives. Looking at the flowing lines of herbs and veggies that grow in our garden, our guests often love to lose track of their time, something that we are proud of. We intentionally designed a space that would directly feed the soul.

And to continue that legacy, we continue to keep growing our own food. We continue to create a space that is not built around nature but is one with it. The famous French painter, Claude Monet, once said: “My wish is to stay always like this, living quietly in the corner of nature.” And that corner awaits your arrival at the best vegetarian restaurants in Jaipur, Meraaki Kitchen, and Cafe White Sage. A space that is built around the idea of progression yet deeply rooted in nature. A chair set in nature awaits you here.
